From the Help section: The paperback page count is based on words-per-page (set via the Options tab) and assumes one word to be six characters, based on typographical standards, just to give you a rough idea on what the page count might be in a trade paperback.
I assume the pages printed means the manuscript pages but Scrivener does a weird thing and won't number the pages consecutively if the chapters are in individual files.
I don't really pay much attention to pages anyway. I use the word count.
