WAIT until you see it!
Every page is pure delight as a magpie accumulates a nest full of items.
The art is nothing short of amazing.
More is already garnering raves, including a starred review in School Library Journal.
Publishers Weekly says:
Lies’s (Bats at the Ballgame) marvelously lifelike paintings of a kleptomaniac magpie and a mouse with superior judgment do most of the storytelling in a story anchored on debut author Springman’s string of quantity words (“Lots. Plenty. A bit much”).... Lies’s striking paintings of the magpie’s flashy wings, swooping tail, and gleaming eyes—as good as any field guide’s—are the story’s real treasures.

Fabulous work and a lighthearted message that hits home! This is one for grownups, too.
If only I had an indie or any bookstore or library! But I will get ahold of it one way or another. Love the ciover illustration and the concept.
It's so pretty! Love that bird with a marble.
I'm a sucker for birds! Off to buy it.
I don't have an indie near me or I would have gone there, but Evan and I have a copy on it's way thanks to amazon.com! The preview pages were great--can't wait to see the whole thing!
Thanks for the blog post, Barbara!
