I'm excited to announce that I'm this year's author for Scholastic Storyworks' Create a Character Contest, just announced in the September issue.
Students submit a fictional character. (There are literally thousands of entries.)
I will help choose the winning entry, and then write a story using that character for the magazine!

Hi Barbara,
I know one or two, or maybe even three or four, children who would love to participate in this contest. Is there a way for them to do that or is this through schools?

Good question. I'm not really sure. You might be able to do it through the Scholastic Storyworks web site but I'm not sure. Sorry!
